It is a helpline operated by off duty licensed London taxi drivers with The Knowledge of London. The taxi drivers provide directions and other information down the telephone. The Knowledge is a virtual business and so has no fixed premises address. It has been featured on ITVs London Tonight and by David Williams in The Evening Standard. In tests against satnav The Knowledge has proven to be quicker. There is no special equipment to buy, no subscription rates, no software updates required, and the call length is governed by the caller.
